SENIOR SPORT

Sport for All

Derby High School's approach to Physical Education is in line with the school's belief in education in its broadest sense.

We believe that every student should experience the joy, challenge and satisfaction of participating in physical activity. Our aim is to provide all students with rewarding, enjoyable and inclusive opportunities to engage in sport and physical education throughout their time at school.

Our sports programme is designed to create a positive, supportive and inclusive environment in which every student can develop confidence, resilience and a lifelong appreciation of being active. Students have opportunities to participate in a wide range of competitive and recreational sports through clubs, House competitions and school teams. Those with exceptional talent are encouraged and supported to achieve their full potential, with opportunities to represent the school at local, county, regional and national levels.

Sports offered at Derby High include netball, gymnastics, hockey, rounders, basketball, dance, trampolining, volleyball, football, cricket, tag rugby, athletics, badminton and fitness activities. The school benefits from excellent on-site facilities and a team of experienced, highly qualified staff who are committed to inspiring every student to enjoy, achieve and succeed in sport.

Pupils show a balanced and mature understanding of the fundamental aspects of staying physically and mentally healthy.
