Senior High Notes 27th September 2024

It was wonderful to welcome our Year 11 students and their parents on Wednesday evening to our Sixth Form Open Evening. As they start to think about the next step in their academic journey, it was fantastic to see them so engaged and excited about what lies ahead. This is a pivotal moment for them, and we are here to support them every step of the way.

In assembly today I spoke about something we all face: pressure. With the new series of The Great British Bake Off starting this week, many of us have been reminded of the intense challenges the contestants face – whether it is producing a showstopper or tackling a tricky technical bake under tight timings. These situations mirror the pressures our students face in their studies, exams, and extracurricular activities. We talked about how preparation, staying calm when things go wrong, and viewing pressure as an opportunity can help them not only manage stress but also thrive in challenging moments. Just like in Bake Off, where the best bakers stay composed and adapt when things do not go to plan, our students can rise to the occasion when they manage pressure effectively. Whether they are facing exams, university applications, or personal challenges, the key is to stay focused, keep calm, and remember that a little pressure can sometimes lead to something extraordinary.
