What a lovely week it has been! The weather has felt wonderfully spring-like, bright and fresh, until the rain arrived this morning to remind us that we are still only in February.
This week we also held our GCSE Options Evening for Year 9, and it was so lovely to see the students and their families thinking carefully about the next stage of their learning journey. This is a wonderful time of choice, a moment to consider what you enjoy, what you are good at, and what might inspire you in the years ahead. Every subject we offer has been carefully considered to ensure it provides clear pathways to further education and future opportunities. They are taught by knowledgeable and experienced teachers, who understand the specifications thoroughly and are committed to supporting each student to succeed. The GCSE Options Evening was a great opportunity to ask questions, meet teachers, and continue to receive guidance as students take the next steps in their academic journey.

Looking ahead, we are all very much looking forward to the House Music finals taking place next week, a special Derby High tradition. It is always a joy to see our students showcase such incredible talent across a vast range of instruments, including voice. The finals celebrate not just skill, but creativity, courage, and collaboration, and they are a highlight of the school year that never fails to inspire.
