Senior High Notes 24th January 2025

This week in my assembly, I shared my excitement about the reality TV show Traitors. The final airs tonight, and I know many of our students will be as glued to it as I will! The show’s premise is gripping: contestants are divided into “Faithfuls,” working together to win a prize, and “Traitors,” secretly plotting to sabotage the group. The entire game hinges on trust – earning it, breaking it, and trying to rebuild it under intense suspicion.

It is a fascinating reminder of how important trust is, not just in a game but in our everyday lives. At school, trust is what allows friendships to flourish, teamwork to thrive, and our community to feel supportive and safe. But just like in Traitors, trust is fragile. It takes time to build, can be broken in a moment, and is not always easy to repair. Acts of kindness, honesty, and reliability are the building blocks of trust – and they are essential for creating a positive school environment where everyone feels valued and secure.

Albert Einstein once said, “Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.” I encouraged our students to think about their actions this week and to reflect on whether they are building trust or breaking it. Trust is the foundation of everything we do, and when we nurture it, we create stronger friendships, stronger teams, and stronger communities.
