Senior High Notes 19th September 2025
Today our whole school community came together to mark Peace One Day, which is recognised globally each year on 21st September. Established in 1999, the day invites people everywhere to pause and reflect on non-violence, unity, and what peace truly means in our lives.
The dove is a universal symbol of peace. For centuries the dove has represented gentleness, calm, and hope for a better future, and this inspired the reflective activity we took part in during tutor time.
Today, every member of our community has contributed to what will become our school-wide display under the title “Peace Starts With Us.” Pupils in Year 3 and above carefully folded origami doves, while our younger children decorated pre-cut dove shapes. On each dove, students wrote a message or reflection about peace. The results were wonderful, and I know the display will become a daily reminder for us all of the importance of peace in both small and significant ways.
