PRIMARY SPORT
Sport for All
This starts in Early Years, by building the confidence of our Pre-School and Reception children. Our children have PE lessons, led by a specialist PE teacher. Here we focus on developing fundamental movement skills. This is where we begin to develop our pupils’ lifelong love for physical education and sport.
Our games afternoon begin in Key Stage 2. One afternoon a week, we bring the students together to develop their games abilities across a range of sports. These sports include hockey, netball, football, tag rugby, cricket and rounders. We believe it is important to encourage competition at every level and that means encouraging every child to take the opportunity to represent the
school.
Our extensive range of After School Sports’ Clubs offer dedicated sport clubs to all year groups.Â
To complement fixtures taking place in our games afternoon, our students have the opportunities to play competitively in house events throughout the year.
Derby High School is a part of the Independent Association of Prep Schools, who host a wide range of sporting festivals. This is a great opportunity for our higher performers to compete against other independent schools.

My child is always so proud to represent his school in a fixture!
