This week’s Primary House Music was a wonderful celebration of music, creativity and community. The theme of Trolls certainly made for a colourful and entertaining afternoon, and it was fantastic to see how wholeheartedly everyone entered into the spirit of the event.
The musical talent on display across the school was impressive, with pupils performing with confidence, enthusiasm and real enjoyment. There was wonderful singing and a wide range of instruments being played, and it was lovely to see pupils supporting and encouraging one another throughout the performances. A huge thank you must go to the music department for all the work that goes into preparing an event like this, and of course to the pupils who practised and rehearsed so carefully.
Alongside the music, the costumes and hair were simply fabulous. The bright colours, imaginative outfits and wonderfully creative hairstyles added even more energy and fun to the occasion. Although I do hope that Mr Harper manages to remove the orange make-up from his face sometime soon!
What made the afternoon particularly special, however, was the sense of belonging that filled the room. House events are about much more than competition. They bring pupils from different year groups together, encourage everyone to be involved, and create those moments where the whole school community comes together to celebrate and support one another. It was a lovely reminder of what makes Derby High such a special place.
