Primary High Notes 5th December 2025

What a joyful week it has been in the Primary School. On Wednesday morning, we were treated to the most wonderful EYFS Nativity. It was so lovely to welcome so many families, indeed, I do not think the Junior Hall has ever been quite so full! Our youngest pupils absolutely shone. The children performed with such confidence: learning their lines, delivering them clearly and proudly, and singing with real enthusiasm. Moments like these are so important in the early years. Standing on a stage, sharing a story, and performing in front of an audience all help to build the foundations of self-belief, communication, and resilience. These experiences grow year on year, helping our pupils develop the assurance that will stay with them throughout their time at Derby High. And we see the long-term impact of these early opportunities throughout the school. Over the past few weeks many of our Year 13s have been celebrating exciting news about university offers, Oxford and Cambridge and medicine interviews, and next steps in their academic journeys. Their confidence, poise and determination began with moments just like our Nativity, small steps taken when they were very young, nurtured consistently over time. It is a lovely reminder of the whole school journey our pupils travel.
