Primary High Notes 29th September 2023

I wanted to share some highlights from my assembly on Thursday, which had a truly inspiring and motivating message for our pupils. To kick off the assembly, we started with some motivational music, and it had the exact effect I was hoping for! The pupils described feeling “energized,” “motivated,” and “pumped up.” The song that set the tone for our assembly was Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.” Its powerful guitar riffs and poignant lyrics, delivered by Survivor’s lead singer Dave Bickler, are undeniably motivating.
In my assemblies, I often aim to connect seemingly unrelated elements with an important message. I linked “Eye of the Tiger” with a film I recently watched called “True Spirit.”. In the Chapman household, finding a film that everyone agrees on can be a challenge, but one thing that unites us is a film based on a true story. “True Spirit” tells the incredible journey of Jessica Watson, a young girl who set out to sail solo around the world. What’s truly remarkable about her story is not just the incredible feat itself but also the mind set and qualities that enabled her to accomplish it.
During the assembly, I spoke about the power of resilience and determination, drawing inspiration from the lyrics of “Eye of the Tiger” and Jessica Watson’s true story. I encouraged everyone to embrace resilience and determination in their own lives. When faced with challenges, I urged them not to be discouraged but to see those challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Moreover, I emphasised the importance of pursuing dreams with unwavering determination, as it’s this very determination that can transform the seemingly impossible into the achievable.
I hope this message resonates with you and your children as we all strive to instill these valuable qualities in our young minds.
