Primary High Notes 30th January 2026

Have you ever felt a pull to explore, to see what lies beyond the familiar, even when it is a little bit scary? That is exactly what we explored in my assembly this week through Moana’s song “How Far I’ll Go”.
In my assembly yesterday, I talked about Moana and the little voice inside her that asks, “I wonder…?”, the same voice that encouraged her to sail beyond the reef, discover new things, and learn about the world around her. We reflected on how curiosity is important to us all in school: asking questions in lessons, trying new activities, and being brave enough to learn from mistakes.
I challenged the pupils to follow their own “Moana voice”: to ask one good question, try something new, and not worry if they do not know the answer yet. Curiosity, I explained, is how we grow, and sometimes, just like Moana, it takes a little courage to follow where it leads.
It was wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic and reflective, ready to explore their own oceans of curiosity. As Moana reminds us, sometimes the hardest part is taking the first step, but that is also when the adventure really begins!
