Our Year 13 students continue to reach exciting milestones as many of them have now submitted their UCAS applications and are beginning to receive offers for the next stage of their education. Over recent weeks it has been a joy to watch their hard work and aspirations start to take shape. On Tuesday evening, just as the Christmas Concert was drawing to a close, there was a moment that beautifully captured this stage of Sixth Form life. One of our Year 13 students came rushing into the hall, absolutely jumping for joy, having just received her very first university offer. It was a wonderful reminder of everything this journey represents: dedication rewarded, doors opening, and young people stepping with confidence toward their futures. These moments are special not only for the individual, but for all of us, highlighting the supportive, celebratory community that surrounds our students here at Derby High.
We are also thrilled that several of our Year 13s have been invited to interview for Oxford and Cambridge, as well as for competitive medicine courses. These invitations reflect their sustained commitment, curiosity, and resilience. We wish them every success as they prepare; we know they will approach their interviews with thoughtfulness and confidence.
